Auto White Balance.
Today was an extremely grey day. There was lots of light, but very flat and diffuse. I tried using my flash, but it couldn’t provide the fill-light I needed. I know this is basic photography, but for wildlife, there are lots of camera functions that I never use… until now. The first revelation today was that I could drastically improve the feel of the pictures by pushing up the exposure by 1/3 or 2/3 of a stop. The second revelation I had today was that I could change the white balance from Auto to Cloudy. I haven’t tried it yet, but I will tomorrow.
