What’s in the bag (2012-04-17)?

Since I last published a “What’s in the bag” post here, there have been some major upgrades to my equipment. It is still a very minimalistic setup for nature and portrait photography, but it works great. Since my last “What’s in the bag”, I have changed all my Sigma lenses for Canon L glass, and the picture quality has improved dramatically.

So, here is a picture of my bag. This is a Bilora Eurostar Roma travel bag that can hold the majority of my equipment. In addition to that, I have a small sling-bag that can hold the EOS 50D body, the 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM lens, a flash and a couple of batteries.

Generally, I try to carry as little equipment as possible.

In the main bag:

Anyways, back to the airline carry-on travel bag. The bag is a Bilora Eurostar “Roma” camera backpack, and it holds all the necessary equipment - with room to spare. As shown, it can hold sufficient equipment to cover most situations, i.e. nature photography, touristy photos and portrait/family photos.

2 x Cameras: EOS 1D Mark IV + EOS Canon 50D.
2 x Lenses: EF 100-400mm f/4-5.6 L IS USM + EF 24-105 f/4-5.6 L IS USM.
1 x Macro extension tube set.
1 x 1.4x Kenko Teleconverter.
1 x Nissin Di622 Mark II Flash.
2 x Compact cameras (Canon 210SX + Fuji A800).
1 x Extra battery for the EOS 1D Mark IV.
1 x Canon 1D Mark IV Charger.
2 x Wireless Flash Triggers.
1 x CPL Filter.
1 x Rocket Blower.
1 x UK/Euro power plug adapter.
1 x Various lens cleaners, rubber bands etc.

In the lid:

4 x Extra batteries for the 50D and the compact cameras.
8 x AA Batteries for the flash.
2 x Battery chargers for the EOS50D and the 210SX.
1 x Eye Piece for the 1D Mark IV.
3 x Cords (1 x Power, 1 x USB, 1 x flash cord).
1 x USB Card Reader + 2 spare SD Memory cards and 2 CF Cards.
1 x Mobile phone charger.

In the Laptop compartment:

1 x Reflector screen (gold/silver/black 500mm across).
1 x 14″ Laptop + Charger.

OR

T-shirt + socks + underwear + summer pants.

In my sling-bag:

1 x EOS 350D Camera
1 x 24mm f/2.8 lens.
1 x 35-80mm f/5,5mm plastic lens.
1 x 100-300mm f/5,6mm plastic lens.
1 x EOS 350D charger and batteries.

Since I changed to the EOS 1D Mark IV, and the Canon glass, it  has saves a bit of weight. In particular the ridiculously bulky 1D Mark II charger has been substituted for the 1D Mark IV charger. This also reduced the number of power chords from 3 to 1.
