Today started with nothing in sight but gulls. That changed, however, and the day became one of the most interesting days at Vejlerne ever. I saw several new species (new to me that is), like the Crane (Grus grus), Pochard (Aythya ferina) and the Red-breasted Merganser (Mergus serrator). I also got some really nice photos of the Buzzards. There were many today – one even sitting on the ground in the middle of groups of geese.
I also saw the more common birds, like the Mallard (Anas platyrhynchos), Goldeneye (Bucephala clangula), Tufted Duck (Aythya fuligula), Sheld-duck (Tadorna tadorna), Goosander (Mergus mergenser), Buzzard (Buteo buteo), Coot (Fulica atra), Oystercatcher (Haematopus ostralegus), Lapwing (Vanellus vanellus), Black-headed gull (Larus ridibundus), Wood pidgeon (Columba palumbus), Skylark (Alaunda arvensis), Robin (Erithacus rubecela), Blackbird (Turdus merula), Magpie (Pica pica), Jackdaw (Corvus monedula), Pheasant (Phasianus clochicus), Heron (Ardea cinerea). As usual, the Bittern (Botaurus stellaris) was heard but not seen.
