Today at Vejlerne, I spotted my first Common Sandpiper (Actitis hypoleucos). It’s not supposed to be in Denmark, so it was really great to see it. The next new species on my list is not really rare, I just never saw it before – the Common Tern (Sterna hirundo) . It was busy fishing, and I did get a photo of it with a fish. Unfortunately it was not sharp enough. The last interesting bird today was the Reed Bunting (Emberiza schoeniclus). I actually spotted this little black and brown bird the other evening, but it was first today that I got a decent photo of it. Finally, I spotted a black and white bird lying in the sand. It was pretty big (pigeon sized) and didn’t move at all. I have not yet identified it.
Other birds of interest were Swallows (Hirundo rustica)- lots of them, two Cranes (Grus grus) flying north at quite an altitude, as well as a little grey one I have not yet identified.
