f/2.8 and Depth of Field.
Let’s be clear about this. If you try a close-up with f/2.8, you get nothing useable. The depth of field is so narrow that practically nothing gets in focus. I found out the hard way today, while trying to take some garden flowers. Anything from f/2.8 to f/10 was practically useless. I never had these problems before. Maybe because I never had an f/2.8 lens before, or maybe because I always used the camera in automatic mode. It’s amazing how much goes on in even the cheapest camera. Well…. now I know.
