I visited Vejlerne on the late afternoon today. On any sunny day, like today, most of the birds are hiding. I did, however, see the greylag geese and some of the more common water-birds. According to one of the other visitors, the rare Bearded Titmouse (Panurus biarmicus) was hiding in the reeds, but I did not see any sign of movement. At least I now know what to look out for in the future. I did hear the Bittern (Botaurus stellaris) very close by, but as always, it was impossible to spot. A sound like a dog barking turned out to be from a European Common Frog (Rana temporaria). The most exciting bird today was the Western March Harrier. There were at least three, flying around over the reed forests. I managed to get a couple of decent photos of it, but should probably have waited a bit longer for it to fly overhead.
