Skylarks.
I have never seen so many Skylarks (Alauda arvensis) in one place before. The stretch of heath just behind the sand dunes were packed with them this evening. Not too many in the air, but I would estimate about 10 on the ground, just within a 20 m radius from where I was standing. Amazing. I also saw a pheasant (Phasianus colchicus). It was just infront of the car, with the golden evening sun shining on it. It was spectacular, but from experience, I know it is impossible to phtograph it through the windscren of the car, so I just sat there looking at it, until it disappeared into the bushed. A White Wagtail (Motacilla alba) and its mate was seen sitting on a wire fence as I drove homewards.
